Dear Freedom of Speech:

I love and miss you more than you know right now.

Wish you were here,

xoxo Me.

I'm in China right now, and am being kept super-busy with chiropractor therapy and mandatory family fun time. On top of that, however, I've been using my limited Internet time to find that the national firewall has blocked off a lot of my favorite sites. The official word is that the firewall protects Chinese citizens from "political threats" but I'm going to need some explaining to understand how high fashion and safe sex are going to take down the Chinese Communist Party. As far as I can tell, the only consequence of blocking these websites from an entire nation is limiting sources of knowledge and outlets for creativity.

Livejournal in particular is a fabulous outlet for my thoughts, but I have another two and a half weeks before I can use it. As a result, I'm feeling really blocked up and I haven't posted here in too long.

Maybe I'll do a series on all the ways China is really funny. Or Chinese people.

Maybe I'll stay in Hong Kong, where the firewall doesn't exist.
